The first step to succeeding in life is to believe in yourself.
Other people don’t make our dreams and goals come true, we do. Believing in yourself and your abilities is so important. On the flip side, it can be so easy to lose faith or confidence in yourself when encountering failure, fear, or setbacks. We’ve all been there, girl. But it’s not the end! Pick yourself up and keep going!
Here are 7 ways you can start believing in yourself in order to move forward in belief and accomplish those dreams:
Change your mindset.
Mindset is EVERYTHING. So, first things first, get into the habit of having a more positive outlook on life. Instead of saying “I can’t” say “I can.” Stop thinking everything is impossible; realize that they are possible.
There are some people who are naturally positive and some who aren’t. If you need help in this area, feed your mind with positivity. Listen to uplifting podcasts, look up inspirational quotes on Pinterest or read a personal development book.
Say bye to self-doubt and hello to self-confidence.
Do you doubt yourself literally all the time or have low self-esteem? Join the club! If you’re stuck on other’s opinions of you or your own limiting beliefs, you’ll get nowhere. Conquer those limiting beliefs about yourself and stop worrying about what someone else thinks of you.
Start practicing self-love. Loving yourself will build your confidence and belief in yourself. Be kind to yourself. Embrace your strengths and weaknesses equally. Realize that no one else can be you and that is your power!
Live by faith not by fear.
Too many people don’t live the life they want to live because of fear. But that’s no way to live! It’s time to live by faith and not by fear. Kick your fears in the face and start doing the things that scare you. Have faith in yourself, find your inner strength and you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
And don’t let the ‘F’ word scare you. Failure is a part of life, accept it. Instead of being afraid to fail, embrace it. Failure can be such an eye opening experience that you can learn and ultimately grow from.
When we are young, we are encouraged to dream big, all the time. But as we get older and experience reality, our dreams get smaller. But no one is stopping you from dreaming big, just you. Give yourself permission to dream BIG again! Dream from the heart, because life is too short not to dream.
To start making dreams a reality, you need to see them. Write down your dreams and goals or make a vision board so you are constantly reminded of them. Start visualizing your dreams and visualizing yourself accomplishing them. Don’t be afraid to ask “what if?”
Make a plan.
Our dreams and goals don’t just happen. We have to make them happen, and the first step in doing so is to create a plan. It’s so much easier to do something when we have some sort of direction. When we are lost, we tend to give up easily.
Think of all the details of your dreams/goals. Who, What, When, Where, Why, How. Break it all down into actionable steps. Look at that plan everyday, live it. And it’s okay to tweak that plan along the way, as long as you still have it.
Now you’ve dreamed and made a plan. Time to take action! Follow that plan, step by step. Start doing the work required to achieve your dreams. This means showing up every single day, even when you don’t feel like it.
Action can look as big or as small as you want it to. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Your dreams won’t be either. The important thing is that you work your hardest, and the rest will fall into place.
A lot of times we only focus on our end goal or the big picture, which is great! But it’s also important to take a step back and acknowledge how far you’ve come. You will find motivation to keep going by celebrating what you’ve accomplished so far. Remind yourself YOU CAN!
And, of course, celebrate when you do reach that goal or achieve that dream. You did it, girl! Use each success to believe in yourself a little more and dream even bigger next time.
Believe in yourself and make it happen!
